UniFi Access - Manage Doorbell Call Methods & Receivers

The Caller Manager feature allows you to add users, admins, the Intercom Viewer (UA-Intercom-Viewer), and Protect Chimes as receivers for doorbell calls from the Intercom (UA-Intercom) and G2 Reader Pro (UA-G2-Pro). This setup determines which devices and individuals receive doorbell calls from visitors, enhancing security and streamlining access control.

Requirements

  • Access application 2.4.5 or later
  • UniFi OS 4.1.2 or later
  • UniFi Access
  • UniFi Identity Endpoint

How It Works

  1. Visitors at the door can request entry by:
  2. The Intercom Viewers, admins, and users designated as the receivers will receive a doorbell call notification simultaneously.
    • Admins receive notifications on their UniFi Access and UniFi Identity Endpoint.

    • Non-admin users receive notifications on their UniFi Identity Endpoint.
    • The Intercom Viewer receives notifications.

  3. The receivers can unlock the door remotely or communicate with visitors through live view.

Manage Intercom's Doorbell Call Method and Designate Receivers

Set the Intercom's doorbell call method to Directory or Direct Call to control how visitors trigger doorbell calls and determine which receivers get the notifications.

Set the Method to Directory

For multi-dwelling units, you can create a directory for each unit and designate admins, users, Intercom Viewers, or Protect Chimes as receivers. This setup ensures that when a visitor selects a unit from the directory list or enters a dial code on the Intercom:

  • Only the paired Intercom Viewers and designated admins and users for that unit will receive a doorbell notification.
  • The paired Protect Chimes will ring.
  1. Go to your Access application > Caller Manager > select an Intercom > Doorbell Call Method and select Directory.Intercom_Directory.png
  2. Specify the Directory Display Name and Dial Code, and click Save.
    • Directory Display Name: Use this to identify a tenant, floor, room, or area, making it easier for visitors to find the right contact if they don't know the dial code.
    • Dial Code: Customize this series of up to 6 numbers. Visitors can enter this code on the Intercom to reach the corresponding receiver, helping to maintain tenant privacy.
  3. Hover your mouse over the directory you just created and do either of the following:
    • Click Add Receivers if no Intercom Viewers, Chimes, admins, or users have been added yet.
    • Click Manage Receivers if some Intercom Viewers, Chimes, admins, or users are already added.
  4. Add the receivers and click Add or Save as prompted.

Set the Method to Direct Call

This setup ensures that when a visitor presses the physical doorbell button on the Intercom (requires Intercom 1.2.30 or later):

  • All paired Intercom Viewers and designated admins and users will receive a doorbell notification simultaneously.
  • The paired Protect Chimes will ring.
  1. Go to your Access application > Caller Manager > select an Intercom > Doorbell Call Method and select Direct Call.
  2. Add Intercom Viewers, Chimes, admins, or users as the receivers.
  3. Click Add or Save as prompted.

Manage G2 Reader Pro's Receivers

When a visitor presses/swipes the doorbell button on a G2 Reader Pro:

  • All paired Intercom Viewers and designated admins and users will receive a doorbell notification simultaneously.
  • The paired Protect Chimes will ring.
  1. Go to your Access application > Caller Manager.
  2. Hover your mouse over a reader and do either of the following:
    • Click Add Receivers if no Intercom Viewers, Chimes, admins, or users have been added yet.
    • Click Manage Receivers if some Intercom Viewers, Chimes, admins, or users are already added.
  3. Add the receivers and click Add or Save as prompted.

Manage Receiver Schedule

Once a user or admin is added as a receiver, you can manage their receiver schedule as needed.

  1. Go to your Access application > Caller Manager.
  2. Select a receiver and set the Receiver Schedule to any of the following:
    • Always: The receiver will get all doorbell call notifications at any time.
    • Predefined: Choose a schedule from Settings > Policies & Schedules > Schedules. The receiver will get notifications for calls made only during these timeframes.
    • Custom: Create a custom schedule. The receiver will get notifications for calls made only during these timeframes.
      • Save as a Predefined Schedule: Save the customized schedule in Settings > Policies & Schedules > Schedules for use in other receiver schedules.
      • Holiday Exceptions: Create a schedule for holidays. The receiver will get notifications for calls made only during these timeframes.
