Configuring UniFi Access Control Hub Terminals
This article explains how to configure terminal settings in the Access application after wiring devices such as locks, door position sensors, push-to-exit buttons, and motion sensors to your UniFi Access Control Hubs for optimal performance and customization. Configuring Output Terminal Settings
Output terminal settings such as locks, door operators, sirens, and chimes are configured in UniFi Access > Devices > select a hub > Settings > Terminal Manager.
Door Lock Settings
After a door lock is wired to the hub, set how long a door stays unlocked after access is granted.
- UA-Hub-Door, UA-Hub-Door-Mini, UA-Ultra, EAH-8: Navigate to Lock > Unlock Duration.
- UA-Hub-Gate: Navigate to Side Door Lock > Unlock Duration.
- UA-Hub-Elevator: Navigate to Common Settings > Unlock Duration. Then set the terminal mode to Fail-Safe or Fail-Secure.
Door Operator Settings
After a door operator is wired to the hub for automated door opening and closing, set a delayed door opening and unlock duration for safety and accessibility needs.
- UA-Hub-Door, EAH-8: Navigate to Auxiliary (AUX) > Door Operator (or Door Opener) > Delay Door Opening.
- Open Door After: Set when the operator activates after unlocking.
- Open Duration: Set how long the door remains open.
- UA-Hub-Gate: Navigate to Gate > Gate Opener Activation Duration and set how long the gate remains open.
Siren Settings
After a siren is wired to the hub, set how long the door can stay open past its unlock duration before the siren sounds.
- Navigate to Auxiliary (AUX).
- UA-Hub-Door: Navigate to Siren/Chime > Siren.
- EAH-8: Navigate to Terminal Mode > Siren.
- UA-Hub-Gate: Navigate to Siren > Siren and select gate, side door, or both.
Chime Settings
After a chime is wired to the hub, set the ring duration when triggered by a doorbell press.
- Navigate to Auxiliary (AUX).
- UA-Hub-Door: Siren/Chime > Chime.
- EAH-8: Terminal Mode > Chime.

Configuring Input Terminal Settings
Input terminal settings such as motion sensors, request-to-exit, doorbell buttons, and door position sensors are configured in Access application > Devices > select a hub > Settings > Terminal Manager.
Request-to-Exit Device Settings
After a request-to-exit (REX) device is wired to the hub for free egress, set the Trigger Level to Close Active (NO) or Open Active (NC) based on the device's specifications.
- UA-Hub-Door:
- For motion sensor: Navigate to Motion.
- For push-to-exit button or panic bar: Navigate to Button > Mode > Unlock Door.
- UA-Hub-Door-Mini, UA-Ultra: Navigate to Exit Request.
- EAH-8: Navigate to Exit Request > Mode > Unlock Door.
- UA-Hub-Gate: Navigate to Side Door Exit Request.
Doorbell Button Settings
After a doorbell button and third-party chime are wired to the hub for entry requests, set the Trigger Level to Close Active (NO) for most scenarios. However, settings may vary by manufacturer.
- UA-Hub-Door: Navigate to Button > Mode > Ring/Trigger Chime.
- EAH-8: Navigate to Exit Request > Mode > Ring/Trigger Chime.
If you are using UniFi Chimes, click Select UniFi Chimes to specify the chimes to ring when the doorbell button is pressed.
Door Position Sensor Settings
After a door position sensor (DPS) is wired to the hub for door status monitoring, set the Trigger Level to Open Active (NC) for most scenarios. However, settings may vary by manufacturer.
- UA-Hub: Navigate to Door Position Sensor (DPS).
- UA-Hub-Door-Mini, EAH-8: Navigate to Door Position.
- UA-Hub-Gate: Navigate to Gate > Gate Position or Side Door > Side Door Position.
Emergency Settings
After a fire panel is wired to the hub for fire detection, configure automatic emergency mode activation during emergencies.
- Go to Emergency > Emergency Mode and select Lockdown or Evacuation.
- (Optional) Tick the Activate This Mode for All Locations at This Site checkbox to enable emergency mode across all hubs at the same site.
Important: Emergency mode triggered by the fire panel cannot be deactivated via the Access application, Access mobile app, or Admin Mode on a reader. However, you can deactivate the mode for other hubs at the same site at Dashboard > hover your mouse over a location > Overview > Deactivate.
