UniFi Access - Manage Access Policies and Assign to Users for Access Control
Create an access policy that defines when users can access specific locations, and then assign it to users and user groups for better access control.
Once the Access application is set up, the Default Site Policy is automatically created. This policy allows all users to access all locations at any time, but admins can modify it as needed.
Create or Edit Access Policy
- Go to your Access application > Settings > Policies & Schedules > Policies.
- Click Create New to create a new policy or click an existing policy to edit it.
- Specify the following:
- Name: Enter the policy name.
- Locations
- All: Apply this policy to all locations, location groups, elevators, and gates.
- Custom: Apply this policy to specific locations, location groups, elevators, and gates.
- Users
- All: Apply this policy to all users and user groups.
- Custom: Apply this policy to specific users and user groups.
- Schedule
- Always: Grant users access to all/selected locations at any time.
- Predefined: Select a schedule from the predefined options in Settings > Policies & Schedules > Schedules.
- Custom: Set a custom time frame for when users can access selected locations.
- Save as a Predefined Schedule: Save the customized schedule in Settings > Policies & Schedules > Schedules for use in other access policies.
- Holidays: Grant users access to locations during holidays.
- Off: Disable holiday schedules.
- On: Create New Holiday and set a custom time frame for when users can access selected locations.
- Click Create.
Access Policy Examples
Example 1
For employees with daily routines, grant all users at the New York Office access to all locations from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Example 2
For employees working shifts, grant specific users and user groups access to specific locations on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 11:59 PM.
Example 3
Grant all users access to all locations from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. But only allow access from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on September 2 and October 21.
Manage Access Policy
- Go to your Access application > Settings > Policies & Schedules > Policies and click Manage.
- Select access policies and choose to Resume, Pause, or Remove them.
