Getting Started with Official UniFi Hosting

Official UniFi Hosting provides a scalable solution for managing your UniFi Network and Talk Gen 3 devices without requiring a Cloud Gateway, CloudKey, or Self-Hosted Network Server. Note that this is not related to our license-free Site Manager used for scalable multi-site management. If you’re unfamiliar with UniFi’s hybrid cloud architecture, click here to learn more.

Available UniFi Applications

Official UniFi Hosting supports the UniFi Network application and UniFi Talk Relay (designed to manage Talk Phones configured with a 3rd Party PBX).

Official UniFi Hosting can be used alongside other UniFi Consoles, such as Network Video Recorders or CloudKeys, to provide access to the full suite of UniFi applications. This includes Protect for camera surveillance and Access for door access control, ensuring a comprehensive and unified management experience.

Setting Up Official UniFi Hosting

  1. Purchase Official UniFi Hosting directly from the UI Store, or:
    1. Navigate to the UniFi Site Manager.
    2. Select Display Options.
    3. Click the “+” button next to “UniFi Cloud”.

To create a new site:

  2. Click Create New Site.
  3. Create a new site and set your account as Host.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Official UniFi Hosting and other methods of running UniFi (Cloud Gateways, CloudKeys, Self-Hosted Network Servers)?

UniFi Site Manager ensures a consistent management experience regardless of where the UniFi application software is hosted. The choice of hosting method depends entirely on your preference for how and where you want UniFi to run:

  • Cloud Gateways and CloudKeys are recommended for their integrated, plug-and-play simplicity.
  • Official UniFi Hosting is ideal for users who prefer to abstract the control plane from physical hardware.

Note: If you plan to use a UniFi Gateway, you cannot pair it with a Cloud Gateway. Instead, you must use an Independent Gateway (a gateway that does not run the UniFi application software).

What happens when my credit card cannot be charged?

If your payment method fails on the billing date for any reason, it will be retried three more times (after one, two and seven days). You will get email notifications prompting for an updated payment method.  If all three retries fail, your subscription will be canceled.

What happens when I cancel my subscription?

When you cancel your subscription, your Official UniFi Hosting instance remains active until the end of the prepaid period. At the end of the billing period, your Official UniFi Hosting instance will be terminated.
