UniFi Protect: Advanced Detections

UniFi Protect’s AI-driven detections elevate surveillance by allowing you to focus on meaningful events, boost video retention and simplify footage export for law enforcement or long-term storage. UniFi’s AI-Series of cameras also offer advanced Classification, and powerful Recognition features to further streamline operations and create custom alerts that will strengthen your organization’s physical security posturing.

Detections: Capture Key Events

Supported Detections: Motion, people, vehicles, animals, line crossing, and more.

All UniFi Protect cameras can detect a range of events, which are accessible in the Timeline within each camera’s Playback tab. For an overview across all cameras, visit the Detection tab, where you can filter detections by Camera, Detection Type, and Date/Time to quickly locate important footage. This filtering capability allows you to swiftly find key events, ensuring efficient surveillance and simplifying incident reviews without sifting through hours of footage.

Detections can be used with detection-based recording to ensure cameras only record when specific events occur, increasing recording retention. They can also be configured to generate alerts in Alarm Manager to notify admins of specific detections, supporting real-time monitoring.

Additionally, once key footage is identified, you can export clips for legal or archival purposes, ensuring critical moments are securely saved and easily accessible for future reference. For details on exporting and archiving footage, click here.

Classification: Focus on Important Details

Supported Classifications: Vehicle color, vehicle type, and sounds (baby cries, sirens, glass breaking, and more).

UniFi’s AI-Series cameras offer additional classification of standard detections. This results in additional filtering parameters within the Detection tab. As an example, you can filter specifically for “Red SUVs” instead of just the general “vehicle” detections,  thus further streamlining surveillance operations.

Recognition: Identifying Unique Subjects

Supported Recognitions: License plate recognition, facial recognition, and specific alerts.

UniFi’s AI-Series cameras also provide advanced recognition features, enabling subject tracking and customized alerts for identified license plates or individuals of interest. For setup details, see here.
