Unlocking Doors with Facial Recognition in UniFi Access
UniFi Access offers a seamless unlocking experience for users through facial recognition on Intercom, Reader Pro, and G6 Entry. This guide explains how to upload your photo using your Identity Endpoint and start using Face Unlock. If you’re an admin setting up this feature, click here.
Requirements
Uploading Face Photo
- Open your Identity Endpoint mobile app.
- Choose a method:
- Tap Upload Face Photo for Face Unlock and tap Upload Photo.
- Tap your profile icon and go to Door Access > Face Photo.
- Center your face within the frame, look directly at the camera, and move your head slowly to complete the circle.
- No obstructions: Remove masks, glasses with glare, or anything covering your face.
- One face only: Make sure only your face is visible in the frame.
- Good lighting: Use a well-lit environment without shadows or reflections.

Stay still: Keep your head steady and avoid sudden movements.
- Tap Done.
Using Facial Recognition to Unlock Doors
- Face the reader and center your face in the frame.
- Look straight at the camera and keep your head steady.
- Once your face is recognized, the door will unlock.
FAQ
Can I retake the photo if my registration fails?
Yes. You can retry as many times as needed. Adjust your face position, lighting, and alignment to get better results.
Why am I prompted to update my face photo again?
If you've already uploaded a face photo but are asked to upload it again, it's because new reader models have been added to your system. Please update your face photo to enable Face Unlock on these new readers.
