Configuring Touch Pass in UniFi Identity Enterprise

Touch Pass lets users unlock doors by tapping their phone or watch on a G3 Reader—no apps or buttons needed!

Requirements

UniFi device and version support

  • UniFi OS 4.1.11 or later
  • Identity Enterprise 0.82.2 or later
  • Identity Enterprise
    • iOS 0.82.5 or later
    • Android 0.83.2 or later
  • G3 Readers must be adopted in the Access application. Touch Pass is compatible with NFC readers certified by Apple and Google.

Identity Enterprise paid plan subscribed

Touch Pass is available for Identity Enterprise workspaces on paid plans, with no additional fees for assigning Touch Passes to users.

Apple Pay/Google Wallet is regionally supported

  • For iOS: Ensure Apple Pay is available in your region
  • For Android: Ensure Google Wallet is available in your region.

User device support

For iOS

  • iPhone or Apple Watch compatible with Apple Pay
  • Running iOS version 16.0 or later (update iPhone | Apple Watch)
  • Set up Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode on their iPhone
  • Identity Enterprise for mobile
    • You have invited users to Identity Enterprise
    • Identity Enterprise iOS 0.82.5 or later

For Android

  • Android phone compatible with Google Wallet (currently not available on Wear OS)
  • Running Android version 9 or later (update Android phone)
  • Identity Enterprise for mobile
    • You have invited users to Identity Enterprise
    • Identity Enterprise Android 1.6.2 or later

Note: Touch Pass is not supported in Mexico, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Nepal.

Enabling Touch Passes

  1. Navigate to Identity Enterprise Manager > Services > Door Access > Advanced and enable Touch Pass
  2. Agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy checkbox and click Enable.
  3. Click Save.

Assigning Touch Passes

You can assign Touch Passes to all users or individually:

  • To assign to all users: Navigate to Services > Door Access > Advanced > Touch Pass and enable Allow All Users to Activate Touch Pass. Click Save.
  • To assign individually: Navigate to Organization > Members > Users, select a user, and enable Touch Pass in Permissions > Door Access.

Viewing and Managing Touch Pass

  1. Navigate to Identity Enterprise Manager > Organization > Members > Users.
  2. Click on a user, go to Permissions > Door Access > Touch Pass, and click the pass.
  3. Here you can:
    • View pass status
      • Pending Acceptance: The user has not added their assigned pass to their wallet or watch.
      • Activated: The user has added their assigned pass to their wallet or watch.
    • Add the pass alias.
    • Unassign a pass from a user. Once unassigned, the pass will automatically unbind from the current device.
    • Suspend a pass to temporarily disable it.
    • Hover over a device to Unbind it from the pass. The pass remains assigned to the same user and can be bound to another device under their account. 

Unlocking Doors with Touch Pass

Touch Pass allows users to unlock doors, simply by tapping their phone on the UniFi reader. By default, users can unlock doors even if their phone is locked.

FAQs

Can I use a single Touch Pass for my smartphone and smartwatch?

  • For iOS: Yes, a single Touch Pass can be used on both an iPhone and an Apple Watch, provided both devices are signed into the same iCloud account.
  • For Android: No, Touch Pass is currently only available on Android phones.

How many iCloud or Google accounts can be assigned a Touch Pass?

Each Touch Pass can be assigned to only one iCloud or Google account.

Can a single smartphone have multiple Touch Passes?

Yes, a smartphone can hold multiple Touch Passes from different sites. Only one pass per site is allowed per iCloud or Google account.

Can I transfer Touch Passes between users?

Yes, you can unassign a pass from a user and then assign it to another user.
