UniFi Access - Connect to Doorbells & Chimes & Configure Software Settings
To have a chime ring when the doorbell button is pressed, you can connect Access Readers, Protect Chimes, and third-party doorbell buttons/chimes to your Access Control Hub. The table below outlines the compatibility for different scenarios:

Hardware Connection
Access Control Hubs
Terminal Name | Description |
BUTTON | A third-party doorbell button is connected to this terminal. Doorbell buttons mostly act as the NO-type output. |
AUX - SIREN/CHIME | A third-party chime is connected to this terminal, which is designed for a 2-wire siren or chime that operates on 12V with a rating of no more than 0.33A (4 watts). |

Access Readers and Intercom
Protect Chimes
UniFi Protect Chimes do not need to be directly connected to Access Control Hubs. The image below shows the topology of the PoE Smart Chime.

Setup in UniFi Access Application
Configure Third-Party Doorbell Button Settings
- Go to your Access application > Devices > Hubs > select a hub > Settings > Terminal > Terminal Manager.
- Do either of the following:
- UA-Hub:
- Go to Request to Enter (REN) and set the Mode to Ring/Trigger Chime.
- If UniFi Chimes are paired with locations, click Select UniFi Chimes to specify the chimes to ring when the doorbell button is pressed.
- UA-Hub-Door:
- Go to Button and set the Mode to Ring/Trigger Chime.
- If UniFi Chimes are paired with locations, click Select UniFi Chimes to specify the chimes to ring when the doorbell button is pressed.
- EAH-8:
- Go to Exit Request, set the Mode to Ring/Trigger Chime, and set the Trigger Level to Close Active (NO).
- If UniFi Chimes are paired with locations, click Select UniFi Chimes to specify the chimes to ring when the doorbell button is pressed.
- UA-Hub:
- Click Apply Changes.
Configure Third-Party Chime (12V) Settings
- Go to your Access application > Devices > Hubs > select a hub > Settings > Terminal > Terminal Manager.
- Do either of the following:
- UA-Hub: Go to Auxiliary (AUX), set the Powered Terminal Mode to Chime, and set the Ring Duration to specify the duration for which the chime remains activated after it is triggered.
- UA-Hub-Door: Go to Siren/Chime, set the Siren/Chime Terminal Mode to Chime, and set the Ring Duration to specify the duration for which the chime remains activated after it is triggered.

EAH-8: Go to Auxiliary (AUX), set the Terminal Mode to Chime, and set the Ring Duration to specify the duration for which the chime remains activated after it is triggered.

Click Apply Changes.
