UniFi Access - Understand Gate Hub for Gates and Garages
Gate Access Starter Kit (UA-SK-Gate) comes with the following devices to help you get started with gate access and pedestrian side door control. See the Installation Guide for more details.
- (1) Gate Hub (UA-Hub-Gate)
- (1) Intercom (UA-Intercom)
- (2) 2-wire PoE extenders (UACC-Extender-2Wire-PoE-TX/RX)
- (1) PoE++ adapter (U-PoE++)
Gate Hub, when paired with UniFi Protect AI Cameras, controls vehicle access based on the result of License Plate Recognition (LPR). Learn more about Controlling Vehicle Access Using License Plate Unlock.
Support Various Gate Types and One Pedestrian Side Door
Gate Hub supports a variety of gate and garage scenarios, including sliding gates, swinging gates, barrier gates, and roll-up garage doors. Additionally, Gate Hub allows control of a pedestrian side door. Learn more about Connecting Gate Hub to Gates and Pedestrian Side Door.
PoE Technology Utilization
Gate Hub offers a distinct advantage with its UACC-Extender-2wire-PoE technology. This technology allows for PoE input, enabling the transmission of Ethernet data over extended distances. Users can leverage existing twisted pair cables, eliminating the need for new cable installations. Additionally, a PoE++ adapter can be used to transmit AC power to the Gate Hub.
Recommended Gate Selection
When choosing a gate, it's recommended to select one with a built-in auto-timer feature. This allows the gate to open automatically when the Gate Hub relay is triggered, and close automatically after a set time.
- When the auto-close timer is deactivated, the gate must be closed manually.
- When the auto-close timer is activated, the gate closes automatically after the specified period.
Install Entrapment Protection Devices for Safety and License Plate Unlock Support
To ensure gate safety and the proper functioning of the License Plate Unlock feature in the UniFi Access system, it is crucial that the UL 325 terminals on the third-party gate operator are correctly connected to and configured with entrapment protection devices. Without proper installation, License Plate Unlock will not operate correctly, meaning the gates will not open even if a vehicle's license plate numbers are detected and authorized for access.
