UniFi Multi-Site Orchestration and Templating
Blueprints and Canvas allow you to simultaneously orchestrate configurations across multiple UniFi sites in an Organizational Fabrics with ease. A Blueprint defines a complete site configuration you can assign to any number of sites. Canvas defines a single setting, like one VLAN or SSID, you can apply the same way. Both save you from repeating the same configuration work on every site individually, and both require a Fabric.
Blueprints
A Blueprint is a full site configuration (VLANs, firewall zones and policies, WiFi, and more) defined once and assigned to as many sites as you want. Editing the Blueprint updates every site it’s assigned to. You can build a Blueprint from scratch or clone one from an existing, already-configured site. A Blueprint can also be used to facilitate full-site Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) has the additional benefit of enabling zero-touch provisioning
Creating a Blueprint
- Go to Site Manager and select your Fabric. If you don't have one, see Creating a Fabric in UniFi.
- Navigate to Settings > Blueprints and click Create New.
- Name the Blueprint.
- Either clone the configuration from an existing site, or configure it manually.
- Assign the Blueprint to one or more sites. Each assigned site pulls its configuration from the Blueprint.
Note: Local overrides and/or additional configurations can still be applied directly in each site.
Zero-Touch Provisioning
See Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) for more information.
Canvas
Canvas enables orchestration for one individual configuration, rather than an entire site config. Common use-cases include:
- A shared corporate VLAN or guest VLAN
- A WiFi SSID you want identical across every site
- A specific content filtering list
- A centralized RADIUS server used by multiple sites
- An IPS/IDS intrusion prevention policy set
Creating a Canvas
- Go to Site Manager and select your Fabric. If you don't have one, see Creating a Fabric in UniFi.
- Navigate to Settings > Canvas.
- Select the relevant policy type and click Create New.
- Assign the policy to one or more sites, and click Save.
Note: Local overrides and/or additional configurations can still be applied directly in each site.
Device Templates (Coming Soon)
Device Templates apply the same Blueprint/Canvas pattern one level down, to individual switch ports, standardizing port profiles for uplinks, access points, phones, cameras, and printers so they’re consistent across sites.
