UniFi IDentity - Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is an added layer of security used to verify an end user's identity when they sign in. UID administrators can configure authentication methods for all the workspace users or allow them to set up their own MFA.

UID authentication methods

UID offers the following authentication methods:

  • UI Verify: Users must download the UI Verify mobile app and use it to generate a one-time,  six-digit code to verify each login attempt. This method is enabled by default when UID is set up.
  • SMS: Users will receive a six-digit verification code via SMS on their mobile phones.
  • Google Authenticator: Users must download the Google Authenticator mobile app and use it to generate a one-time, six-digit code to verify each login attempt.
  • Security Questions: Users will create their own question and answer sets. Answers are case-sensitive. Following each login attempt, users will be prompted to answer one of their questions to verify their access. This method is enabled by default when UID is set up and cannot be disabled.
  • Security Key (FIDO2): Users will authenticate their application and door access with a physical security key.
