FAQs
Where is fingerprint data stored and transmitted?
When a user registers a fingerprint, the data is processed and stored on the UniFi Console within the UniFi Access system. This data is securely synchronized with Access Control Hubs and Readers to enable fingerprint verification. All fingerprint data is stored on the console's internal drive and is only removed when a user's credential or profile is deleted.
No data is sent to any third-party servers. All storage and processing remain local.
What are the common reasons for fingerprint enrollment failure?
If you're having trouble enrolling a fingerprint, here are the most common causes and how to fix them.
- Finger is too wet or dirty: Wipe your finger on a clean, dry cloth to remove excess moisture or dirt.
- Finger is applied too lightly: Press your finger firmly and flat on the sensor.
- Finger is not positioned correctly: Make sure your finger covers most of the sensor area.
- Finger moves during scanning: Hold your finger still and avoid sliding until the scan is complete.
How to clean the fingerprint sensor?
Keeping the fingerprint sensor clean helps ensure accurate and fast authentication.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth or cotton swab.
- Gently wipe the sensor surface with light pressure.
What to avoid:
- Do not pour liquid directly to the sensor.
- Do not use abrasive materials.
- Do not use acidic or harsh cleaning liquids.
- Do not submerge the device.
- Do not rub the surface aggressively.
