UniFi Access - Manage visitors

This article describes how to add, edit, and review details pertaining to visitors in your UniFi Access application. Visitors are users with temporary access rights.

In this article, you will learn how to:

Add a visitor

  1. Navigate to the Visitors menu of your UniFi Access application.
  2. Click the Add Visitor link in the top-right corner of the menu.


  1. Specify the visitor's information on the Add Visitor page, including:
    1. Their first and last name.
    2. The doors you want them to use.
    3. The reason for their visit.
  2. Assign the visitor a new or existing NFC card:
    1. Select a card from the list.
    2. Click Add Card.

If the NFC card has already been assigned, you'll be asked to Transfer it to the new visitor.

You can also fill in additional information about the visitor by clicking Show More Information


  1. To set up a visitor's access schedule:
    1. Select the visit frequency (one-time or periodic) from the top drop-down field.
    2. Select the desired visitation start and end dates from the respective fields below if you are granting periodic visitation access.
    3. Click the Add button to confirm your visitor's access schedule.


Edit visitors

  1. Click the All Visitors tab at the top of the Visitors menu.
  2. Click the desired visitor line listing to view and edit their access profile information, such as their:
    1. Assigned NFC card
    2. Visit reason and schedule
    3. Authorized access doors
    4. Access activity log
  1. Once you have made all desired edits to the visitor's access profile, click the Edit button to confirm your changes.


Review visitor status information

  1. Click the All Visitors tab at the top of the Visitors menu.
  2. Review the Status designation of a specific visitor in the directory to confirm the current stage of their visit. These statuses include:
    1. Upcoming: The scheduled visit is still upcoming.
    2. Active: The time of the visit has come, but the visitor has either not arrived or has not used their NFC card.
    3. Arrived: The visitor has arrived and used their NFC card.
    4. Complete: The time of the visit is over and the visitor has completed their visit.
    5. No Show: The scheduled visit window has elapsed and the visitor did not arrive.
    6. Cancelled: The visit has been cancelled.

      Note: Your UniFi Access system will automatically update visitor statuses based on the scheduled visit window, and whether or not your visitors use their assigned NFC card.
  1. Once you have made all desired edits to the visitor's access profile, click the Edit button to confirm your changes.


UniFi Access will automatically change visitor's status between Upcoming > Active > Arrived > Complete as the time of the visit comes and the visitor uses their NFC card or between Upcoming > No Show if the visitor doesn't appear.

You can also use Mark As and Cancel Visit to manually change visitor's status.
