UniFi Protect - Adopt and manage devices

To use your Protect cameras and other devices and manage them via the UniFi Protect Controller, you need to adopt them to the controller.

This article explains how device adoption works, how to adopt devices to the UniFi Protect Controller, and how to manage your Protect device settings.

How to adopt a UniFi Protect device on the Web UI

Before adopting a new UniFi Protect device, make sure it is set up and wired according to the Quick Start Guide and connected to your NVR.

Most cameras are powered via PoE, you might need a switch or a PoE adapter to power them.

1. Go to Devices section and click Add devices to see all Protect cameras available for adoption

If your Protect devices have been connected to your Protect controller host device (in this case UNVR) correctly, you will receive a notification offering to adopt all the available cameras.
