The ES-8-150W will power both the ES-10X and the UAP-AC-Lite using 24V Passive PoE. The ES-10X can pass through the power to the UAP-AC-Lite using the PoE-In (port 1) and the PoE-Out (port 8) ports. The UAP-AC-Pro will be powered via 802.3af/at PoE+.

The EdgeSwitch (ES) devices support the following PoE output modes:

  • 802.3af/at Active PoE mode that negotiates the power delivery with the powered device (enabled by default on all PoE capable ports).
  • 24V Passive PoE mode that does not negotiate the power delivery.
  • Off PoE output disabled.

The EdgeSwitch X (ES-10X and ES-10XP) devices support the following PoE output modes:

  • 24V Passive PoE mode that does not negotiate the power delivery.
  • Off PoE output disabled (default).

Enabling Passive PoE Output

In this example, both the ES-10X and the UAP-AC-Lite will be powered via 24V Passive PoE. The UAP-AC-Pro will be powered via 802.3af/at PoE.

GUI: Access the Web UI on the ES-8-150W.

1. If not already done, unplug the Ethernet cable that connects the ES-8-150W on port 1 to the ES-10X on port 1.

2. Navigate to the Dashboard  dashboard.png  to change the PoE mode under the PoE column for port 1.

Dashboard > Port Summary > Port 1 > PoE > 24V

3. Plug in the Ethernet cable between the ES-8-150W on port 1 to the ES-10X on port 1.

WARNING: Make sure that a 24V Passive PoE-capable device is plugged into port 1.

Verify the PoE output status:

NOTE:Port 7 connected to the UAP-AC-Pro will automatically negotiate the PoE output mode (803.3af/at).

You can also view the summary of all currently PoE enabled  power.png  EdgeSwitch ports in the top right of the Dashboard.

interface 0/1
poe opmode passive24v
exit

exit
copy running-config startup-config
GUI: Access the Web UI on the ES-10X.

1. If not already done, unplug the Ethernet cable that connects the ES-10X on port 8 to the UAP-AC-Lite.

2. Navigate to the Dashboard  dashboard.png  to change the PoE mode under the PoE column for port 8.

Dashboard > Port Summary > Port 8 > PoE > 24V
