Understanding Connectivity Roles of UDB Devices
The UniFi UDB (UniFi Directional Bridge) product family includes wireless bridges optimized for outdoor point-to-point and point-to-multipoint (PTMP) links. This article explains which UDB models can provide or receive connectivity, and outlines valid uplink combinations.

Summary
- UDB can only connect as a client to a UniFi AP. Third party APs are not supported.
- UDB Pro is versatile: it can connect to a UniFi AP (mesh), bridge with another UDB Pro (P2P), or connect as a client to a UDB Sector (PTMP).
- UDB Pro Sector is used to serve multiple UDB Pro units in PTMP setups — it cannot act as a client.
- Bridging UDB ↔ UDB Pro or UDB ↔ UDB is not supported.
Avoid bridging UDB with UDB Pro, as this configuration is not supported.
