Configuring Mobile Unlock in UniFi Access

Mobile Unlock uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to let users unlock doors effortlessly with their phone or watch. It includes two convenient features:

  • Mobile Button: Unlock doors by tapping a button on the Identity Endpoint mobile app.
  • Mobile Tap: Unlock doors by tapping a phone directly against a reader.

Update your UniFi OS, Access application, and Access devices to the latest versions for the newest features and optimal performance.

Requirements

  • UniFi OS 4.4.9 or later
  • Access application 4.1.15 or later
  • User's Identity Endpoint mobile app

Configuring Mobile Unlock 

  1. Update UniFi by navigating to UniFi OS > Settings > Control Plane > Updates.
  2. Enable UniFi Identity by following the steps here. Ensure to include Smart Door Access in the enabled services.
  3. Proceed to the Assign Permissions to Users section of the article above to onboard users to Identity.
  4. Users will receive an onboarding email or link. Once onboarded, they can unlock doors from their Identity Endpoint mobile app. For more information, see our detailed Mobile Unlock User's Guide.

Enabling Remote Door Unlock

You can allow users to remotely unlock doors using their Identity Endpoint mobile app, even when they are not physically at the door. When enabled, users can unlock any door they have permission to access during the times allowed by the assigned access policies by tapping Doors > … > Unlock on their app. For more information, see our detailed Mobile Unlock User's Guide.

  1. Navigate to Access application > Settings > General > Remote Unlock and enable Remote Unlock via Identity Endpoint
