UniFi Access - Face Unlock Configuration
Face Unlock lets UniFi Access users unlock doors simply by scanning their face at a Reader Pro or Intercom—no buttons needed! For a complete list of supported unlock methods, click here.
Requirements
Version requirements
- UniFi OS 4.1.9 or later
- Access application 3.0.34 or later
- UA-G2-Pro 1.7.14 or later
- UA-G3-Pro 1.0.19 or later
- UA-Intercom 1.4.15 or later
Remote Access enabled
- Navigate to UniFi OS > Control Plane > Console > Advanced > Remote Access.
- If disabled, users' devices and the console must be on the same local network to upload face photos via the Identity Endpoint.
Smart Door Access enabled
- Navigate to Access application > Settings > Admins & Users > Identity Endpoint > Services > Smart Door Access.
For users to update their face photos via Identity Endpoint
Enabling Face Unlock

Navigate to Access application > Settings > General > Security > Face Unlock.

Tick the Allow Users to Unlock Doors by Face Scanning checkbox.

Enable Anti-Spoofing for all readers to prevent deception using photos, videos, or masks.

Set the Anti-Spoofing Threshold to Medium or High. High requires users to position their faces within the reader's frame.
- Click Apply Changes.
- (Optional) After enabling Face Unlock globally, you can disable it for individual readers in Devices > Readers > select a reader > Settings > Access Methods > Face Unlock.
Uploading Face Photos for Users
After enabling Face Unlock, you can upload face photos using either of the two methods below. Once added, users can unlock doors by scanning their face at a Pro Reader or Intercom.
Users can also upload photos directly through their Identity Endpoint. For more information, see our detailed Face Unlock User's Guide.
Via the Access Application
- Navigate to Access application > Settings > Admins & Users > Users > select a user > Settings > Assignments > Access > Add Face Photo.
- Upload a photo and Scroll to zoom in/out or Slide to change position as needed.
- Click Upload.
- Click Apply Changes.
Via the Access Mobile App
- Open your Access mobile app, and navigate to Users > tap a user > Settings > Credentials > Face Photo.
- Do either of the following:
- Upload a photo and Scroll to zoom in/out or Slide to change position as needed.
- Take a photo by centering the face within the frame.
