UniFi Access - License Plate Unlock Configuration
UniFi Access makes garage door and gate access seamless. With a UniFi AI Camera, doors or gates unlock automatically when a license plate is detected in the designated zone—no buttons needed! For a complete list of supported unlock methods, click here.
Requirements
- UA-Hub-Gate 2.1.1.0 or later
- Hub connected to gates and other mechanisms. Watch this video for deployment scenarios.
- UniFi OS 4.0.20 or later
- Access application 2.5.2 or later
- Protect application 5.1.57 or later
- UniFi AI Camera 4.73.90 or later
Camera Selection and Mounting
A UniFi AI Camera compatible with License Plate Unlock is required. This includes:
- UVC-AI-Turret
- UVC-AI-LPR
- UVC-AI-Dome
- UVC-AI-DSLR
- UVC-AI-Bullet
- UVC-AI-Pro
- UVC-AI-Theta (excluding the 360 lens)
For optimal visibility, mount cameras at the appropriate height and angle to capture the entire vehicle and clearly view the license plate.
Pairing AI Camera with Gate Hub
Before you start, ensure the Access and Protect applications are installed on the same console.
- Go to your Access application > Dashboard, hover your mouse over a Gate Hub, and click the Manage icon.
- Go to Overview > Paired Devices > Manage > Cameras, then select your AI Cameras and click Save.
- Click the paired camera, go to Settings > Access Methods, and enable License Plate Unlock.
- (Optional) Edit the unlock zone and click Save.
- The Vehicle with License Plate Number: The vehicle must be positioned at least 90% within the detection zone for accurate plate detection.
- Only the License Plate Number
- Enable Record a Video Upon Door Unlock to automatically capture a short video whenever the gate opens.
- Click Apply Changes.
Assigning License Plate Numbers to Users
- Go to your Access application > Settings > Admins & Users > Users.
- Click on a user, then go to Settings > Assignments and click Add License Plate.
- Enter the plate number and click Add.
