UniFi Access - Manage Intercom Viewers

Intercom Viewer (UA-Intercom-Viewer) is designed for live viewing, receiving doorbell calls, and remotely unlocking doors. Mount it indoors at multiple locations throughout your building to pair it with one or multiple Intercom (UA-Intercom) or G2 Reader Pro (UA-G2-Pro) for efficient and secure visitor screening and access control.

Requirements

  • UniFi Access application 1.23.10 or later
  • UniFi Access mobile app:
    • iOS 1.6.1 or later
    • Android 1.6.1 or later

Installation Location

  • Access Readers and Intercoms: Usually installed outdoors, a tenant can unlock a door via PIN, mobile phone, or NFC card, and a visitor can request access with a doorbell call. 
  • Intercom Viewers: Usually installed indoors, a tenant can see who's at the door, talk to them, and unlock the door for those requesting access. See the Installation Guide for details

Common Use Scenario

When a delivery person rings the doorbell on the Intercom at an apartment complex, the tenant uses an Intercom Viewer to communicate via audio or live video and remotely unlock the door. This allows the delivery person to drop off the package without direct interaction, enhancing convenience and security for both parties.

Manage Intercom Viewers

  1. Go to your Access application > Devices > Viewer, select a viewer, and a panel will prompt.
  2. View the viewer information in the Overview panel.
  3. Manage the viewer in the Settings panel.
    • Name: Enter the viewer's name.
    • Callers & Receivers: Click Caller Manager to add the viewer as a doorbell call receiver for one or multiple G2 Reader Pro (UA-G2-Pro) and Intercom (UA-Intercom).
    • Manage
        • Manual Firmware Update: Enter a URL for firmware updates.
        • Download Support File
        • Locate: The viewer will sound an alert or flash its LED to make it easier to locate.
        • Restart: Restart the viewer.
        • Remove: Remove the viewer from the Access application. This will also reset the viewer.

Add Intercom Viewers as Doorbell Call Receivers

  1. Go to your Access application > Caller Manager and hover your mouse over a reader or intercom and do either of the following:
    • Click Add Receivers if no receivers have been added yet.
    • Click Manage Receivers if some receivers are already added.
  2. Select the viewers to add as receivers when visitors initiate doorbell calls from G2 Reader Pro or Intercom.
  3. Click Add or Save as prompted.Intercom_Directpry_Receiver.png
