EdgeSwitch XP - Enable Passive PoE Output using the Command Line

Readers will learn how to enable Passive PoE output on the interfaces of an ES-XP using the command line.

NOTES & REQUIREMENTS:
Applicable to the latest EdgeSwitch XP firmware on the following models:
  • ES-5XP
  • ES-8XP
  • ES-16XP

CLI: Access the command line interface (CLI). You can do this by using a program such as PuTTY.

1. Choose between the following PoE mode options (depending on the ES-XP model):

  • Off No PoE output.
  • 24V Passive PoE output using 24V.
  • 48V Passive PoE output using 48V.

2. To enable Passive PoE output on Port 1 using 24V, run the following command:

poe 1 24

3. To disable Passive PoE output on Port 1, run the following command:

poe 1 0
WARNING:Make sure that a compatible PoE device is plugged into the port before enabling the Passive PoE output.
