UniFi Identity Admins’ Guide

Requirements

  • Only UniFi Console Owner, Super Admins, and Admins with full OS setting management can add users and assign features to them.
  • To use and assign One-Click WiFi and One-Click VPN, ensure you have enabled them. If you downgraded from UniFi Identity Enterprise to UniFi Identity:
    • One-Click WiFi and One-Click VPN will be automatically enabled in UniFi Identity if they were already enabled in UniFi Identity Enterprise before the downgrade.
    • One-Click WiFi and One-Click VPN will be disabled in UniFi Identity if they were not enabled in UniFi Identity Enterprise before the downgrade. You need to enable them manually.
  • The Door Access and EV Station services will be automatically enabled when the UniFi Access and UniFi Connect applications are installed respectively.
  • To use and assign EV Stations, ensure you have selected "Access with UniFi Identity" by going to UniFi OS > Applications > Connect > DEVICES > selecting a device > Settings > Controls > Station Security.

Manage Identity Services and Mobile Endpoint

For UniFi OS 3.2.5 - 3.2.7

  1. Go to your OS Settings > Admins & Users > Users or Groups.
  2. Click the upper-right Mobile Device icon and perform the following actions as needed:
    1. Click Change on the logo and select the desired image.
    2. Change the display name in the Name field.
    3. Go to Services and enable the One-Click WiFi and One-Click VPN services as needed.
    4. You can turn off the One-Click WiFi or VPN toggles to pause them. When paused, even if authorized users are connecting, One-Click WiFi and VPN will be disconnected and users cannot view the 
    5. Fill in One-Click-WiFi’s SSID and One-Click VPN’s name.
    6. Click Network to manage more WiFi and VPN settings in the UniFi Network application.
  3. Click Save.

For UniFi OS 3.2.9 or later

  1. Go to your OS Settings > Admin & Users > Identity.
  2. Perform the following actions as needed:
    1. Click Change on the site logo and select the desired image from your computer.
    2. Change the site name.
    3. Go to Services and enable the One-Click WiFi and One-Click VPN services as needed.
    4. You can turn off the One-Click WiFi or VPN toggles to pause them. When paused, users can no longer access the authorized One-Click WiFi or VPN.
    5. Fill in the One-Click WiFi SSID and One-Click VPN name.
    6. Click Network to manage more WiFi and VPN settings in the UniFi Network application.
    7. Tick the Requires a Verification Code When Loading Credentials checkbox to automatically send a unique verification code to the invited user's email. Users must enter this code for verification when loading credentials in their UniFi Identity Endpoints.
  3. Click Apply Changes.

Assign UniFi Identity Features to Users

To assign One-Click WiFi, One-Click VPN, Door Access, and EV Station features to users and groups, do either of the following:

  • Enter https://[your console’s IP] in the web browser of a computer connected to your console via an Ethernet cable.
  • Go to your UniFi Site Manager and select a console.

Assign to a New User

  1. On your UniFi OS, go to Admins & Users > Users and click the Add User icon.
  2. Enter First Name, Last Name, and Email.
  3. Go to Network and tick the One-Click WiFi and One-Click VPN checkboxes to grant the user access to WiFi and VPN, respectively.
  4. Go to Door Access and click the Add icon to assign an NFC card, PIN code, and access policy to the user.
  5. Go to EV Station Charger and click the Add icon to assign an electric vehicle station charger to the user.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Send the UniFi Identity invitation link to the user and help them get started by doing either of the following:
    • Click the Copy icon to copy the link and send it to the user in any method.
    • Click Send to send the link to the user’s email address.

Assign to an Existing User

  1. On your UniFi OS, go to Admins & Users > Users, select a user, and click Settings on the prompted panel.
  2. Go to Network and tick the One-Click WiFi and One-Click VPN checkboxes to grant the user access to WiFi and VPN, respectively.
  3. Go to Door Access and click the Add icon to assign an NFC card, PIN code, and access policy to the user.
  4. Go to EV Station Charger and click the Add icon to assign an electric vehicle station charger to the user.
  5. Click Apply Changes.
  6. Resend the invitation link to the user if needed.

Send Invitation Link to User

You can resend invitation links to users. This helps them download and set up the UniFi Identity Endpoint, and access all the powerful features at their fingertips.

Send to a User

  1. On your UniFi OS, go to Admins & Users > Users, select a user, and click Overview on the prompted panel.
  2. Go to Identity Invitation Link and click Send.
  3. Do either of the following:
    • Click the Copy icon to copy the link and send it to the user in any method.
    • Click Send to send the link to the user’s email address.

Send to a User Group

  1. On your UniFi OS, go to Admins & Users > Groups, select a group, and click Settings in the prompted panel.
  2. Go to Identity Invitation Link and click Send to Users.
  3. Select the users you want to send the links to and click Send.

FAQ

How Can I Edit the One-Click VPN Name and WiFi SSID?

You can edit them both either in Identity Settings or the UniFi Network application.

  • Identity Settings: Go to your OS Settings > Admins & Users > Identity Settings and scroll down to the WiFi SSID or VPN Name field.
  • UniFi Network Application:
    • WiFi SSID: Go to your Network application > Settings > WiFi > select your One-Click WiFi > Name.
    • VPN Name: Go to your Network application > Settings > VPN > VPN Server > select your One-Click VPN > Name.
