UniFi Identity Endpoint Overview

UniFi Identity Endpoint provides a centralized way for users to securely access UniFi services such as WiFi, VPN, and Door Access from a single app on their PC or mobile device. When used with UniFi Fabrics, Identity Endpoint enables identity-based access control, role-based permissions (RBAC), and optional Identity Provider (IdP) integration for zero-trust network access.

Identity Endpoint is license-free and designed to scale from single-site deployments to large, multi-site environments.

Why Use Identity Endpoint?

Identity Endpoint simplifies how users interact with UniFi services while giving administrators centralized control over access and permissions.

It enables:

  • Secure, identity-based access to UniFi services
  • Centralized permission management across sites
  • Seamless onboarding and offboarding when integrated with an IdP
  • A consistent user experience across devices and locations

Features Available through Identity Endpoint

With Identity Endpoint, Admins can simplify IT management and control permissions for a variety of services, including:

  • Smart Door Access: Unlock doors securely using a mobile phone or wearable device.
  • One-Click WiFi & VPN: Instantly connect to your organization’s WiFi or access the network remotely with VPN.
  • (Single-Site Only) Talk Softphone: Make calls, check voicemail, and stay connected with colleagues.
  • (Single-Site Only) EV Charging: Locate and use EV chargers conveniently.
  • (Single-Site Only) Camera Sharing: View and collaborate on assigned live camera feeds.
  • (Single-Site Only) File Access: Synchronize and manage files on personal or work devices.

Getting Started

Although Identity Endpoint can be configured for an individual site (Settings > Identity), it is highly recommended to use Identity Endpoint with UniFi Fabrics. Fabrics provide centralized role and permission management, Identity Provider (IdP) integration, and consistent access control across multiple sites, allowing Identity Endpoint to scale more effectively as your deployment grows.
