This article outlines how to enable and disable the PIN code unlocking feature in UniFi Access. It also describes how to assign, use, modify, and delete PIN codes.
Important notes:
- Currently, only the UA-Pro supports PIN code unlocking.
- PIN codes can only be assigned, modified, and deleted by Owner, Super Admin, and Limited Admin users with the Can Edit permission.
- Two types of PIN codes are available for use in this mode: a custom PIN code or an auto-generated PIN code.

Enable or disable the PIN code feature
The PIN code feature can be enabled or disabled via:
- The Access application's locations menu.
- The UA-Hub's configuration panel.
- The UA-Pro's authentication panel.
Enable or disable the PIN code feature via the Access application's locations menu
- Enter your gateway device's IP address in your web browser and log in to UniFi OS.
- Select Access from the application menu.
- Click the Locations icon in the left navigation bar.
- Click on the desired door to open its properties panel, then navigate to Config > Devices.
- Enable the PIN toggle switch within the UA-Pro submenu to activate PIN code mode. Disable the toggle to deactivate the PIN code mode.
- Click Save to confirm your settings.
Note: Ten, consecutive, incorrect PIN code entries will temporarily disable PIN access until either:
- An NFC card paired with the UA-Pro device is used; or
- An authorized admin user unlocks the door remotely.
Enable or disable the PIN code feature via the UA-Hub's configuration panel:
- Log in to UniFi OS and select Access from the application menu.
- Click the Devices icon in the left navigation bar.
- Click on the UA-Hub connected to the door that you'd like to enable PIN code access for.
- Enable the PIN toggle switch within the UA-Pro submenu to activate PIN code mode. Disable the toggle to deactivate the PIN code mode.
- Click Save to confirm your settings.
Enable or disable the PIN code feature via the UA-Pro's authentication panel:
- Log in to UniFi OS and select Access from the application menu.
- Click the Devices icon in the left navigation bar.
- Click on the UA-Pro connected to the door that you'd like to enable PIN code access for.
- In the UA-Pro's properties panel, navigate to General > Authentication.
- Enable the PIN toggle switch to activate the PIN code mode. Disable the toggle to deactivate the PIN code mode.
- Click Save to confirm your settings.
Assign a PIN code
To assign a PIN Code to a new user:
- Enter your gateway device's IP address in your web browser and log in to UniFi OS.
- Select Access from the application menu.
- Click the Users icon in the left navigation bar.
- Click the Add User link in the top-right corner of the User directory.
- Enter the user's first and last name in the respective fields.
- Click the + icon in the Credentials tab to reveal its submenu.
- Type a desired 8-digit PIN code into the respective field, or click the Auto Generated link to have a random code created automatically. Once the code is generated, you can copy it by clicking the copy icon next to the entry field.
- Click Add to confirm your settings.
Note: Every user's PIN code must be unique. PIN codes cannot be shared.
Assign a PIN code to an existing user:
- Log in to UniFi OS and select Access from the application menu.
- Click the Users icon in the left navigation bar.
- Select the desired user to access their profile panel, then click the About tab.
- Click the + icon in the Credentials tab to reveal its submenu.
- Type a desired 8-digit PIN code into the respective field, or click the Auto Generated link to have a random code created automatically. Once the code is generated, you can copy it by clicking the copy icon next to the entry field.
- Click Save to confirm your settings.
Use a PIN code
Note: Currently, only the UA-Pro supports PIN Code unlocking.
To enter your PIN code on the UA-Pro:
- Click the PIN button on the UA-Pro's screen to enter the PIN Code mode.
- Enter your 8-digit PIN code using the screen's number pad. To delete a number, tap the backspace button. Once entered, you will be notified whether your PIN is authorized or denied.
- Tap Cancel to exit the PIN Code screen.

Modify a PIN code
To change the PIN code of an existing user:
- Log in to UniFi OS and select Access from the application menu.
- Click the Users icon in the left navigation bar.
- Select the desired user to access their profile panel, then click the About tab.
- Click the + icon in the Credentials tab to reveal its submenu.
- Click the X button to delete the user's current PIN code.
- Type a new 8-digit PIN code into the respective field, or click the Auto Generated link to have a random code created automatically. Once the code is generated, you can copy it by clicking the copy icon.
- Click Save to confirm your settings.
Delete a PIN code
To delete a user's PIN code:
- Log in to UniFi OS and select Access from the application menu.
- Click the Users icon in the left navigation bar.
- Select the desired user to access their profile panel, then click the About tab.
- Click the + icon in the Credentials tab to reveal its submenu.
- Click the X button to delete the user's PIN code.
- Click Save to confirm your settings.
